The Colonial Pipeline connects refineries in the southern United States and the Gulf of Mexico to markets in the east and south of the country via a 8,850 km pipeline system.

The pipelines carry gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other refined products.

The company said that all its operations had been suspended to limit the damage caused by a cyberattack that “affected the operation of some of its IT systems,” the statement said.
